ABOUT THE LONG DITTON RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION (LDRA)

Hello and welcome to the LDRA website.

The LDRA is non-political and non-sectarian. Its aims are to preserve Long Ditton from over-development, maintain its character, improve its amenities and defend its surrounding Green Belt.

Put another way, the LDRA tries to make Long Ditton a better place in which to live. It plays an active role in all planning matters that affect Long Ditton and is in continuous contact with Surrey and Elmbridge Councils on a wide variety of other issues, including traffic, recreation areas and rubbish collection.

The Association is continually enhancing a positive and pro-active relationship with Surrey Police.

Committee Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at the British Legion Club. A regular newsletter is produced, summarising the main points of the meetings.  It is distributed to all residents and displayed in local shops and the British Legion Club.  Public meetings are also held at the Long Ditton Village Hall twice a year so that residents can meet our councillors.

Monthly Summary

The LDRA monthly summary can also be sent to residents via email.  Click here to sign up and receive the news via email

Your Road Representative

If you ever need help on a local issue, or would like more information about the LDRA’s activities, please feel free to contact any one of the Committee Members listed or get in touch with your Road Representative.

The Road Representative is the point of contact for the residents represented. A strong network of Representatives is essential to the successful operation of the The Association can not operate effectively on your behalf unless you have your own Road Rep! If your road is not represented and you think you can help then please get in touch.

Annual Subscriptions

The LDRA has limited funds and this limits how the association can help in the community.  Therefore, we do ask residents via our Road Reps to support and donate to help us meet our costs.

We are dependent upon the once-a-year donations to be able to inform, represent and support our residents. Naturally,  we are not asking our loyal road reps to collect subs door-to-door at present due to the pandemic. Instead, we are asking for online donations directly into the LDRA bank account:

Sort Code: 20–46–73
Account No.: 33 50 62 82
Payment Reference: <<your road name>>.

We suggest £3.00, or more, per household. Some residents have set up annual standing orders, which is greatly appreciated but we encourage to give what you can.

If you do not use online banking, cheques, (payable to “Long Ditton Residents’ Association”), can be posted to: LDRA Treasurer, 7 Chalcott Gardens, Long Ditton, Surbiton KT6 5HJ.  We no longer accept cash payments

The funds raised allow the association to continue:

  1. Protect our community spaces against over development and loss of green recreational land.
  2. Support Green Belt and Village Green campaigns, both of which continue to be important to our village.
  3. Print and distribute information leaflets to our local residents.
  4. Maintain the defibrillator at Anny’s, fill the salt grit bins, the village Christmas tree lights, …etc.
  5. Promote local businesses by making the village look attractive by sponsoring flower tubs, Christmas trees, and hanging baskets.

We are kindly supported with donations from our Surrey County Councillor’s annual fund and from our local shops in Fleece Road, for which we are very grateful.
